| Team Of The Century |
On the 3rd April 2009, a large crowd gathered at Etihad Stadium to mark the 50th year of our football club and
the announcement of the Team of the Century.
It was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and friendships formed in the past and to showcase our club going in to the future.
A Team of the Decade was named for the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. The highlights of the evening were the naming of the Team of the Century and the inducting of the club’s
first three legends - Ken Schwab, Brian Horskins and Alan Mitchell.
The Team of the Century, included several current day players, including
2009 Senior Coach David Loats, who was named
at full forward.
Many had travelled from all over the country to be present and many players were reunited with mates they had not seen for over 25 years.
As a club, we are hoping that we can build on the support shown that night, and look forward to welcoming many of the past players to our lunches and functions this season and for seasons to come. |
