Welcome to the Wellsmen!!!
Since its inception in late 2008 The Wellsmen have developed into so much
more. The Wellsmen now comprises more than 150 members and is rapidly
expanding. This figure will increase to over 200 members by the end of the 2010
season! The Wellsmen’s rapid expansion, has transformed the informal gathering
into a fully fledged coterie group.
This group is now about supporting the football club and its affiliates. We have
our own constitution, are fully incorporated and a vibrant committee oversees
the day to day running of the organisation. As The Wellsmen has expanded
so rapidly, we now not only support the Football club and its affiliates, but
also our members and the players. We realise running a football club is becoming
more and more expensive, to this we provide much needed monetary assistance. As
a coterie group though, we do not see ourselves as purely financially
orientated. More so we provide employment opportunities, career guidance and
where appropriate mentoring, support on match days and business networking.
There are very few exceptions to our membership criteria. Basically it revolves
around anyone with a link to the football club and who would like to be a part
of a vibrant and exciting entity. Fund raising is not only based on the once off
fee to join our exclusive coterie group, but also functions and events. These
events and functions are becoming legendary! The annual golf day is at Yarra
Yarra and sees eighteen groups compete for The Wellsmen Jackets. These
jackets are prized by all competing and entitle the wearers entry to all our
events, with free drinks upon request! Truly invaluable! All holes are sponsored
and prizes, refreshments and goodies are provided for on the day.
The Wellsmen Christmas Lunch at the Amora Hotel in Richmond has
been sold out each year. The format of the lunch revolves around either a guest
speaker or panel providing an indepth and often humourous view of a football
related topic. As we grow so will our events, as our members want and often
demand a greater choice of what they would like from The Wellsmen. Membership is
open to all and we encourage everyone to get involved.
